Objective

To develop the participants' ability to utilize real-time digital technologies and MPD systems to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and decision-making during drilling operations. The course integrates advanced RTDC practices with pressure control strategies in complex wellbore environments.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the principles and benefits of digital drilling and RTDCs
• Identify key real-time data sources and interpret their significance in drilling operations
• Describe the architecture and operation of RTDCs
• Apply data analytics to optimize drilling performance
• Explain the fundamentals, equipment, and techniques used in Managed Pressure Drilling
• Design basic MPD programs and understand integration with RTDCs
• Recognize the role of automation and AI in drilling operations
• Evaluate the risk management and safety aspects of digital and MPD-enabled drilling
• Analyze real-world case studies to apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios.

Day 1 - Digital Drilling Transformation & RTDC Framework

- Overview of the digital oilfield

- Real-Time Data Centers (RTDC): systems and workflows

- Field-to-office collaboration models

- Case study: RTDC value in complex operations

Day 2 - MPD Fundamentals & Equipment Overview

- Introduction to MPD: concepts and categories (CBHP, PMCD, etc.)

- MPD surface and downhole equipment

- Understanding choke control and pressure profile

- Integration with BOP and rig systems

Day 3 - MPD Operational Applications & Case Studies

- MPD in depleted zones, narrow margin wells, and sour gas environments

- Surge/swab reduction and ECD management

- Lost circulation and ballooning detection

- Case studies from Gulf and Southeast Asia

Day 4 - Real-Time Drilling Optimization with MPD

- Real-time hydraulic modeling

- Drilling dysfunction diagnostics using RTDC feeds

- MPD performance monitoring

- Early warning systems and automated triggers

Day 5 - Risk Management, HSE, and Human Factors in MPD + RTDC

- MPD and well control - compatibility and conflict points

- Digital risk assessments and HAZOPs

- Human factors and control room ergonomics

- Interactive simulation and final troubleshooting exercise

Pre & Post Tests will be conducted

Case Studies, Group Exercises, Group Discussions, Last Day Review & Assessments will be carried out.

Methodology

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information and knowledge transfer. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions, and motivate everybody find the right answers. The delegates will also be encouraged to raise their own questions and to share in the development of the right answers using their own analysis and experiences.  Tests of multiple-choice type will be made available on daily basis to examine the effectiveness of delivering the course.
