Introduction

This course has been designed to give field technicians, engineers plant operators, and electricians, a better appreciation of the role played by Motor Maintenance and Protection. An understanding of motor maintenance will increase your plant efficiency and performance as well as increasing safety for all concerned. This course is designed to provide excellent understanding on both a theoretical and practical level. This course starts at a basic level, to ease the engineer and technician into the perhaps forgotten art of studying, and provide a refresher to those who are more familiar with the basic topics covered. This course then moves onto more detailed applications different motor starting methods, maintenance programs and fault diagnoses. This course also includes simple understanding of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s) theory, operation, application, and troubleshooting.. It will support engineers who are interested in commission phase. This course covers UPS, Batteries, Battery Chargers and Generators, motor operated valves “MOV” maintenance and troubleshooting.

Objective

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Basic troubleshooting principles and testing equipment
  2. Motors construction, types, and basics.
  3. Condition monitoring and testing for motors.
  4. Preventive maintenance, commissioning and troubleshooting for different motors types.
  5. Basics for variable speed drive motors.
  6. Protection if different types and sizes of motors.

Maintenance and troubleshooting of UPS, Batteries, Battery Chargers, Generators and MOV
