Introduction

This course provides an in-depth understanding of rock physics principles and their application in geophysical exploration. The course covers the relationship between rock properties (such as porosity, permeability, and elasticity) and seismic, electromagnetic, and other geophysical data. Participants will learn how to interpret rock physics models to better understand subsurface geology and make more informed decisions in exploration, resource management, and reservoir characterization.

Objective

By the end of the course, participants will be able to understand

  • Understand the fundamental principles of rock physics and its relevance to geophysical exploration.
  • Learn how to interpret the relationship between rock properties and geophysical data.
  • Gain practical knowledge of how rock physics models are applied in exploration and reservoir characterization.
  • Understand the role of rock physics in predicting subsurface conditions and fluid content.
  • Be able to use rock physics data to enhance the accuracy of geological and geophysical models.
Audience
  • Geophysicists and exploration geologists working in the oil, gas, and mineral industries.
  • Reservoir engineers and scientists involved in subsurface modeling and characterization.
  • Explorations and project managers looking to enhance their understanding of rock physics in exploration.
  • Geoscientists, data scientists, and other professionals responsible for integrating rock properties with geophysical data.
