Introduction

This course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of electrical and instrumentation design and drafting processes. It covers the principles of designing electrical systems, control systems, and instrumentation layout, as well as the standards and tools required for drafting electrical and instrumentation drawings. Participants will gain practical knowledge of the design and drafting process, including system specifications, wiring diagrams, and P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).

Content

Day 1: Introduction to Electrical and Instrumentation Design

  • Overview of electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Key design principles for electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Industry standards (IEC, NEC, ANSI, ISA)
  • Introduction to electrical symbols and diagrams
  • Tools and software used in electrical and instrumentation design

Day 2: Electrical Design Fundamentals

  • Understanding power distribution systems (low voltage and high voltage)
  • Design of electrical circuits (lighting, power, and motor control)
  • Sizing of electrical components (cables, transformers, switches, breakers)
  • Creating electrical wiring diagrams and single-line diagrams
  • Electrical design calculations and load analysis

Day 3: Instrumentation Design and Layout

  • Introduction to instrumentation systems and components
  • Principles of process control systems and instrumentation
  • Creating P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams)
  • Sizing and selection of instrumentation (sensors, transmitters, control valves)
  • Developing instrumentation loop diagrams (ILDs)

Day 4: Drafting and Documentation

  • Drawing conventions and drafting standards for electrical and instrumentation designs
  • Preparing and reviewing electrical and instrumentation drawings
  • Documenting specifications and details in design drawings
  • Annotating electrical and instrumentation diagrams
  • Using CAD software for electrical and instrumentation drafting

Day 5: Finalizing Designs and Quality Control

  • Review and finalization of electrical and instrumentation designs
  • Performing design checks and ensuring compliance with codes and standards
  • Quality control in electrical and instrumentation design and drafting
  • Effective communication with clients, engineers, and contractors
  • Preparing project documentation for approval and implementation

 

 

NOTE:

Pre-& Post Tests will be conducted.

Case Studies, Group Exercises, Group Discussions, Last Day reviews, and assessments will be carried out.

 

Certificate

Define Management Consultants Certificate of course completion will be issued to all attendees.

Methodology
