  • Dimensional analysis in heat transfer

Day 3: Mass Transfer Mechanisms and Principles

  • Fick’s law of diffusion
  • Molecular and turbulent diffusion
  • Mass transfer in fluid flow and boundary layers
  • Mass transfer coefficients and their calculation
  • The role of mass transfer in distillation, absorption, and filtration

Day 4: Heat and Mass Transfer Equipment and Design

  • Types of heat exchangers: shell-and-tube, plate, finned tube
  • Design considerations for heat exchangers and reactors
  • Mass transfer equipment: distillation columns, absorbers, scrubbers
  • Flow arrangements and their effect on heat and mass transfer efficiency
