Course Details

Objective

This training course will cover the core departments of container terminal operations including gate, container yard, vessel, rail, maintenance and repair and the role of the management. Participants will learn what it takes to get a container into the terminal, the role of the stevedore, how to work a vessel, managing and planning double stack rail operations, efficient management and use of available real estate, and how to keep equipment safe and reliable. Participants will gain an understanding of how containerized cargo is received, stored, and distributed to meet the customers’ needs.

Day 2

Quay Crane Specifications and Quay Operations

Physical characteristics of vessels influencing berth allocation

Factors influencing berth planning from ship side (arrival / departure times) and shore side (number of containers)

Container Yard (CY) and Container Freight Station (CFS).

Inland Container Depot (ICD).

Describe the process of the ship operation, for loading and discharging.

Understand current and emerging dynamics for container terminal operations management.

Handling Special units (open tops, over height, overweight and Flat Racks), Hazardous and reefer

containers.

Day 3

Terminal operating systems, technology and customer service

Methodology
