Introduction

The Power Transformer Basic Course is designed to provide participants with foundational knowledge about the construction, operation, and maintenance of power transformers. Power transformers are critical components in electrical power transmission and distribution systems. This course covers the basic principles of transformer operation, common types of transformers, their design features, and the importance of their role in power networks. Participants will learn how to identify transformer components, understand their functions, and be introduced to basic troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.

Objective

By the end of the course, participants will be able to understand

  • Understand the basic working principles of power transformers.
  • Identify different types of power transformers and their applications.
  • Learn the main components of a power transformer and their functions.
  • Understand the design features of transformers and the role of oil and insulation in transformer performance.
  • Identify common issues and faults in transformers and how to troubleshoot them.
  • Learn preventive maintenance techniques to prolong the life of transformers.
  • Understand transformer testing procedures and safety precautions.
  • Apply the knowledge of transformers in real-world operational contexts.
